"All the World's A Stage": Female Artists' Gender Performance in Album Covers

I conducted a content analysis study on the performance of gender through clothing, cosmetics, and bodily gestures in the album covers of female-identifying artists. I utilized theoretical, diversity, and quota sampling in selecting the album covers to eliminate bias. The research was particularly interested in the degree to which women of different backgrounds adhere to solidified, existing gender roles.

Opinion Editorial: "Anti-Asian Racism: Lasting Effects of COVID-19"

I had the opportunity to write an Opinion Editorial piece for the course SOC 122: Social Stratification, where I focused on analyzing a single current event while applying Sociological theories and phenomenon. To achieve this, I researched cases of Anti-Asian hate crime relevant to the current pandemic, and incorporated research findings as well as historical cases of discrimination.

Film Analysis: Candyman

For the course WRIT 109HU: Writing for Humanities, I performed an extensive analysis of one specific scene in the film Candyman. I focused on the ways in which film techniques such as camera angle, light source, diegetic and non-diegetic sound illustrate characters and symbolize racial oppression in our society.

Book Review: Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America

The book review for Dopesick by Beth Macy highlights Macy's research findings after following the opioid epidemic and interviewing different groups of people involved in the various parts. I applied Macy's findings and arguments to societal inequality patterns to deliver a thought provoking analysis of the formidable scale of harm the epidemic leaves on underserved communities.
